With so many approaches and opinions when it comes to intermittent fasting it can be pretty hard to decide which intermittent fasting schedule to adopt. The answer to this question is highly dependent on your particular goals and circumstances and whether or not you’ve done intermittent fasting before.
The type of intermittent fasting best for weight loss is a long term fast. The more weight that you need to lose, the longer you can safely fast for.
Most people however find it difficult to fast for longer than 36-72hrs. So even though theoretically you can water fast for an entire month or more if you are 100 lbs overweight, most people that successfully lose weight by intermittent fasting do so by choosing a schedule that they can stick to long term, and that doesn’t make you suffer or make your energy levels drop.
Many people choose the 16/8 fasting schedule as it is the easiest schedule to adopt for most people’s lifestyle. In addition they cut out any refined foods and sugar. Some people will also adopt a ketogenic or low carbohydrate diet during the feeding window, and get plenty of exercise to maximize their fat loss.
Don’t snack between meals
As long as you’re not snacking between meals then your insulin levels will go down and fat cells can release their stored sugars. The main goal of intermittent fasting is to allow your body to burn off fat, which only happens if you allow your insulin levels to get low enough for long enough.
